Bidding Rules

Plain terms, so nobody is surprised at the close.

How bidding works

  1. You enter a maximum, not a bid. We bid on your behalf only what is needed to lead, and raise automatically as others come in, never past your maximum.
  2. Minimum raises step with the price: $25 under $500, $50 to $1,500, $100 to $5,000, $250 to $10,000, $500 above.
  3. Nothing can be sniped. A bid in the final 3 minutes extends that lot by 3 minutes. A lot closes only after it has been quiet for that long.
  4. You are told the moment you are outbid, by text and email.
  5. Bidding closes 2026-10-03 20:30 Eastern, during the closing gala.
  6. A bid is a commitment to buy. Bids cannot be retracted.

Paying and collecting

  • No card is taken to bid. Winners are invoiced after the close, payable within 5 days.
  • Items ship or are collected as stated on each lot. Shipping is included where a lot says so.
  • All sales are final. Items are sold as described, with no warranty.

Tax

National Black Golf Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) organization, Tax ID 26-2420132.

Every lot publishes its fair market value before bidding opens. Under IRS rules a payment to a charity in exchange for goods is deductible only to the extent it exceeds that value. Several lots here open BELOW their fair market value, so a winning bid may carry no deduction at all. Your receipt will state the winning bid, the fair market value, and the difference.
